JOB POSTING: Account Manager

Burr Forest Group is seeking an Account Manager to join our agile and growing team.

Job Description

This position will act as the primary communications conduit between Burr Forest Group  (BFG) and one of our long-term, high-profile clients in the Canadian agriculture sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping implement communications plans, developing high-quality written content, managing social media activity (as needed), and supporting day-to-day client service activities, all under the strategic oversight of BFG.

You’ll work as an embedded communications partner for one of our key accounts—playing a role in content development, media relations, social and digital engagement, project tracking, and stakeholder outreach. You will collaborate closely with BFG’s team of project managers, strategists, and creatives, ensuring that deliverables are timely, polished, and aligned with both client goals and BFG standards.

This position is a remote with flexible hours, however, preference will be given to Manitoba-based applicants with a willingness to travel for face-to-face client meetings. You will have the freedom to manage your time while being accountable to deadlines and deliverables.

Status: Flexible/part-time (with opportunity for full-time)

Location: Burr Forest Group and client is headquartered in Manitoba, but the position is remote

Reporting to: Principal & Senior Project Manager

Salary: Dependant on candidate

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Relationship Management

  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for a key Burr Forest Group client
  • Anticipate needs, flag potential communication issues, and track incoming requests
  • Schedule meetings, as needed
  • Ensure the client feels supported while maintaining BFG’s standards and processes

Content Development

  • Research, write, and edit articles, press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and web copy
  • Align content with client brand voice, goals, and strategic direction
  • Collaborate with BFG writers, designers, and strategists for multimedia outputs

Digital & Social Media

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and managing content calendars (as assigned)
  • Monitor engagement and pull light analytics to help improve content performance

Project Coordination

  • Use BFG’s project management systems (e.g., Asana, Monday, etc) to manage tasks, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Track and log time transparently
  • Provide monthly performance and activity report

Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience in communications (journalism, marketing, and/or public relations)
  • Knowledge of or experience in the agriculture or agri-food sector is a strong asset
  • Experience working in a remote, freelance, or independent contractor role is preferred

Skills, Qualities and Attributes:

  • Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal instincts with a client-first mindset
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Able to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with ease
  • Familiar with social media management tools and light analytics
  • Bonus: Experience in crisis communication, copywriting, or stakeholder engagement
